The rapid growth of high-technology radiation treatments is a significant trend in 2013 for the Radiotherapy Department at Azienda Canizzaro, Catania.

With the integrated Medipass service, in 2013 the Radiotherapy Department launched a second round of daily treatments, and delivered 27,377 procedures compared to about 25,000 in 2012.
The centre, headed by Dr. Marletta, employs two Elekta linear accelera-tors to carry out image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) procedures, one of the most modern radiotherapy techniques available for cancer treatment.
